Man Utd make Leny Yoro and Jadon Sancho decisions as squad to face Rangers revealed

Leny Yoro and Jadon Sancho have been left out of Manchester United’s team for this afternoon’s preseason friendly against Rangers.

Earlier this week, United finalised the signing of Yoro from Lille for a £50 million upfront price.

The 18-year-old Frenchman was withdrawn by his now-former club, therefore he did not play for his country at Euro 2024 or make the Olympic roster.

After productive discussions with manager Erik ten Hag last Friday, Sancho was welcomed back into United’s first squad. The move was made to “put an end to” the public disagreement between the two regarding Sancho’s training performances from the previous summer.

These won’t have been Ten Hag’s only selections, though, since players like Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire are still healing from injuries and players are gradually returning from international service.

Yoro and Sancho are expected to feature in their first preseason minutes, according to United’s announced roster.

Amad Diallo and Andre Onana, who were both absent from the 1-0 loss to Rosenborg of Norway, will be joining them.

However, Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Victor Lindelof—all of whom participated in the Rosenborg match—are all out due to what United refers to as “minor niggles.”

Scott McTominay is the player who is closest to playing after Scotland’s group stage exit from Euro 2024, but the Rangers match has been ruled too early for him.

The same is true for Maguire, who was sidelined by injury during the entire Euros, while Malacia, who hasn’t played in almost a year, is still healing.

The entire team is composed of:

Goalies: Vitek, Onana, and Mee

Defendants: Jackson, Murray, Aljofree, Amass, Bennett, Evans, Fish, Wan-Bissaka, Yoro

Casemiro, Collyer, Fletcher, Hannibal, Mather, Mount, and Scanlon are midfielders.
Forwards: Hugill, Amad, Ennis, Sancho, and Wheatley
