DONE DEAL: 6-Foot-7 French Phenom Alicia Tournebize Shocks College Basketball World, Commits to Gamecocks

COLUMBIA, S.C. — In a move that has redefined the 2026 recruiting landscape, Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks have officially secured a commitment from 6-foot-7 international superstar Alicia Tournebize.

The “shock” isn’t just in her elite size—it’s the timing. While many top prospects wait for the traditional fall or spring signing periods, Tournebize has not only committed but has officially signed a financial aid agreement to join the Gamecocks as a midseason addition, eligible to bolster the roster for the Spring 2026 semester.

The “Dunking Unicorn” Arrives

Tournebize, hailing from Charmeil, France, is widely considered one of the most versatile “bigs” in the world. Standing at a towering 6-foot-7, she possesses a rare blend of perimeter shooting and interior dominance that has earned her the nickname “The Dunking Unicorn.”

“Alicia has an incredible skill set and basketball IQ,” said head coach Dawn Staley. “She has great touch around the rim, can shoot it out to the 3-point line, and is a shot blocker. The FAMS are going to enjoy what she adds to our team.”

Professional Pedigree

Unlike many incoming freshmen, Tournebize arrives in Columbia with professional experience. She was a standout for Tango Bourges Basket in France’s premier league and has already competed at the highest levels of the Euro League.

Her basketball DNA is equally impressive; she is the daughter of French basketball Hall of Famer Isabelle Fijalkowski, an original WNBA player for the Cleveland Rockers. That legacy of excellence was evident during the 2025 FIBA U18 EuroBasket, where Tournebize led France to a bronze medal while earning a spot on the All-Star 5.

A Growing Dynasty: The 2026 Connection

Tournebize’s arrival serves as the crown jewel of a recruiting haul that is quickly becoming the envy of the sport. She joins a powerhouse group of future teammates, including:

Jerzy Robinson: The No. 5 overall recruit in the country.

Kelsi Andrews: A fellow five-star post player.

Kaeli Wynn: An elite forward who committed earlier this year.
