DONE DEAL: Five-Star French Phenom Shocks College Football World, Commits to Texas Longhorns

AUSTIN, TX — In a recruitment that took the college football world by surprise, the Texas Longhorns have officially landed a commitment from five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench Jr. While his surname “Ffrench” (pronounced like the country) has often led fans to mistake him for an international prospect, this “French Phenom” actually hails from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida. By choosing the Longhorns over local powers Miami and Florida State, as well as SEC rival LSU, Ffrench has solidified Steve Sarkisian’s 2025-2026 recruiting cycle as one of the best in program history.

The “Ffrench” Connection

Ranked as a top-five wide receiver nationally and the No. 18 overall prospect in the country, Ffrench is known for his elite route-running and “sticky” hands. His commitment is being viewed as a massive tactical win for Sarkisian, who personally led the charge to flip the former Alabama commit after Nick Saban’s retirement.

“Texas just felt like family from the first visit,” Ffrench told recruiting insiders. “Coach Sark’s vision for the offense and the way they develop receivers for the next level—it’s exactly where I need to be.”

A Dominant Skill Set

At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Ffrench doesn’t just rely on raw speed; he is a technician. Scout reports highlight his “economical” movement, meaning he wastes zero energy in his breaks, making him nearly impossible to cover in one-on-one situations.

In his junior season at Mandarin, Ffrench hauled in 62 catches for 1,247 yards and 14 touchdowns, leading his team to a state finalist appearance. His ability to high-point the ball and make contested catches has drawn comparisons to current NFL stars.

The “All-Star” Receiver Room

Ffrench’s arrival in Austin creates a terrifying prospect for opposing defensive coordinators. He joins a 2025/2026 haul that includes:

Kaliq Lockett: A fellow five-star receiver and physical specimen.

Jonah Williams: The No. 1 rated safety/athlete in the nation.

Dia Bell: The five-star quarterback and son of former NBA star Raja Bell.
