According to talkSPORT, Brighton turned down Napoli’s £8 million bid for Billy Gilmour.

Though the 23-year-old only joined the team for £9 million in 2022 after joining from Chelsea, the South Coast team is not ruling out an exit for him.

Scotland international Gilmour’s future at Brighton is in doubt.

Should Napoli be prepared to spend roughly £12 million, the Seagulls might be persuaded to cash in on Scotland international Gilmour.

It is unclear if the Serie A powerhouses will make a better offer when they return, as Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler probably wants any trade to go through quickly.

Gilmour played in 41 games across all competitions last season, making frequent appearances for Brighton.

However, since former manager Roberto De Zerbi left the Amex Stadium, he faces an unclear future.

Furthermore, if he decides to join Napoli, he will rejoin Antonio Conte, the former manager of the Blues.

Gilmour’s Chelsea debut was given by Frank Lampard, but the midfielder’s first year in the team’s academy occurred during Conte’s last season in west London.

Romelu Lukaku, Gilmour’s former Chelsea teammate, may also join. After helping the squad win the Serie A title at Inter Milan in 2021, Lukaku is eager to work with Conte once more.

In addition, he would be the second well-known Scot in the Italian first division, following international colleague Lewis Ferguson, who is excelling at Bologna.

Brighton has added five players to the first team so far this summer, making it a busy season.

In addition to spending £25 million to get Mats Wieffer from Feyenoord, Brighton also paid £30 million to capture winger Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle.
