Man Utd is reportedly refusing to pay Manuel Ugarte’s massive asking price from Paris Saint-Germain despite having an agreement with the midfield player.

The Red Devils are focusing their efforts on a move for a defensive midfielder after acquiring teenage French center-back Leny Yoro from Lille and Netherlands international Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.

Ugarte appears to be their preferred midfield player; according to numerous sources, the Uruguay international has “agreed personal terms” with Manchester United.

Furthermore, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano disclosed yesterday that Man Utd and PSG must now agree on a deal, with superstar Jorge Mendes once again probably playing a major role.

“Man United have an agreement with Manuel Ugarte on personal terms; he wants the move,” Romano wrote in his Caught Offside blog. Man United and PSG must now agree on a transfer fee, and Casemiro or McTominay may leave the team if a strong offer is made.

“Guys, what does that mean? It indicates that Manchester United is prepared to concentrate on the midfield following Leny Yoro, the centre back, and Joshua Zirkzee, the striker.

“The topic still revolves around Casemiro’s departure, but to be really honest, I can’t verify any rumours that suggest United is having difficulties selling him, which might lead to issues with Ugarte and other players.

Saudi Arabia is still interested in Casemiro, but sometimes it just takes time to reach an agreement on terms like the transfer money and contract.

“Manuel Ugarte is already under consideration by United as a possible new midfield player; the contract has been negotiated, and this is a crucial detail: Jorge Mendes, the agency who represents Leny Yoro, has also been involved in the talks.

“Obviously, Jorge Mendes is still a very well-known brand in the industry, and Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have a great working relationship, which is another crucial factor.

“This is a story that could become real in the coming days or weeks if PSG receives the right proposal.”

In a Saturday update, Romano said: “Paris Saint-Germain wants João Neves at all costs, so they’re willing to let Manu Ugarte leave and join Manchester United.” João and PSG have an agreement, but negotiations on the fee are still going on with Benfica.

Additionally, according to French daily L’Equipe, PSG is requesting €70 million from Manchester United for Ugarte, which is €10 million more than they spent for the Uruguayan player from Sporting Lisbon a year ago.

When the English knocked on the door for the first time at the beginning of the summer, PSG opened the door to a departure. Paris does not want to lose money on a component that it purchased from Sporting Portugal for €60 million the previous season.

For the transfer of the Uruguayan international, the management is even requesting €70 million. A sum that the Manchester residents would not be prepared to spend right now. The leaders of England are thinking of an alternative proposal structure, specifically a loan with a buyout option.
