Arsenal’s preseason tour of America is currently without a number of first-team players due to injury issues and international tournaments. Mikel Arteta has excluded several prominent players.

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, expressed his disappointment in the decision to exclude defender Takehiro Tomiyasu from the team’s preseason tour of the United States.

Tomiyasu, a Japan international, sustained a knee injury during training last week and has been temporarily displaced as a precautionary measure while he endures medical examinations. Since joining the Gunners from Bologna in 2021, the 25-year-old has encountered a multitude of fitness-related challenges. Arteta is emphasising that the club must exercise caution in addressing his most recent challenge.

Arteta stated to reporters prior to Arsenal’s matches against Bournemouth, Manchester United, and Liverpool, “It is unbelievable, because the kid works so hard.”

This week, he was involved in an incident during training. The severity of the injury is not yet known; however, we delayed his departure from London Colney as a precautionary measure. We will observe the outcome.

Although Tomiyasu is not present, Jurrien Timber, a Dutch defender, will be making his return to the first team during the US tour. Timber was sidelined for nearly the duration of his debut season with the Gunners due to a knee injury.

The upcoming friendlies will feature Timber, and Arteta stated, “He is so willing; you can see it in his body language and the way he acts.” I believe that he is currently in a very favourable position, as a result of his diligent efforts.

We will need to supervise him in the coming weeks, particularly due to the significant disparity between the workload he has accomplished in the past few months and that of the next two weeks. Nevertheless, we are overjoyed.

Riccardo Calafiori, an Italian defender, is anticipated to depart his former club Bologna to join the Gunners in north London, potentially joining Tomiyasu.

Arteta expressed uncertainty regarding prospective transfers, stating, “I am uncertain as to whether or not anyone will join us.” There is still a significant amount of time left to enter the window; however, I believe that is a matter that should be addressed by Edu and the board. When you are in close proximity, you are tempted to seize it. We are extremely near.”Obviously we know there are certain positions that we want to improve and give the squad better resources in terms of numbers where we are short,” according to him. “We will make every effort, but our primary objective is to develop a strong bond with the players we have and enhance their performance.”
