Manchester United’s prominent player, Marcus Rashford, experienced a significant deterioration in performance over the previous season, as he encountered substantial difficulties in finding the back of the net.

Throughout all competitions, the 26-year-old player scored a mere eight goals in 43 games, following a previous season where they surpassed the 30-goal mark in 2022-23.

His underwhelming performances at Manchester United resulted in his omission from England’s roster for the European Championship, in which the national team was defeated by Spain in the final.

Rashford has had a promising beginning to 2017 pre-season, as he assisted in Rasmus Hojlund’s goal against Arsenal last weekend.

In an interview with MUTV prior to their friendly against Real Betis, the striker expressed his aspiration to secure both the Champions League and Premier League titles with Manchester United.

“I believe that as one ages, their aspirations also undergo transformation.” Initially, the primary focus was solely on playing for Manchester United. Upon arrival, the primary objective is to achieve victory.

“I still aspire to win the prestigious trophies, namely the Premier League and the Champions League, with Manchester United.” Hopefully, we can accomplish that task.

Manchester United’s most recent Premier League title victory was in 2013, which coincided with Sir Alex Ferguson’s last season as manager.

Subsequently, they have been unable to achieve the prestigious prize, with managers David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer all falling short of winning the league title.

Under Ferguson’s leadership, Manchester United won two Champions League trophies. However, since his retirement, the team has not been able to compete at the same level and challenge for the European Cup.

Last season, the Red Devils had a disappointing eighth-place finish under Erik ten Hag. It will be considered an accomplishment if the Dutch manager can guide them to a top-four position in the upcoming season.

Considering the present circumstances, it is probable that United will require a significant amount of time before they are prepared to contend for the two most prestigious trophies.
