“Goodbye and thank you,” says the Man United target as the Red Devils’ agreement is “progressing nicely.”

After leaving Juventus, Adrien Rabiot is a free agent drawing interest from several parties.
Adrien Rabiot, a top target for Manchester United, announced his departure from Juventus with an emotional farewell message following a fruitful five years with the Italian powerhouse.

The 48-year-old French international made 227 appearances for the Turin-based team during his time there, winning one Serie A title, two Coppa Italias, and one Supercoppa Italiana. He joined Juventus from PSG back in 2019.

He was a constant member of the PSG squad that won five straight Ligue 1 titles, four straight Coupe de France, five consecutive Coupe de la Ligue, and four Trophee des Champions. He has extensive experience competing at the highest level of European football.

Rabiot was also a member of the French side that won the 2021 Nations League, advanced to the 2022 World Cup final, and made it to the semi-finals of the European Championship this summer. His experience makes him a top target for Manchester United, who are looking to bring in a defensive midfielder with leadership qualities for the upcoming campaign.

With an emotional message on Instagram, the 29-year-old—who is open to free transfers—said, “After 5 seasons at Juventus, 5 years in Turin, I want to say goodbye and thank you.” To everyone who has supported me. The club and every employee. I appreciate what you’ve done, Juventus. Best wishes and good bye.

Manchester United is reportedly in negotiations to get Rabiot on a free transfer this summer, according to Caught Offside, and they are leading candidates over teams like Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Galatasaray. Although Rabiot’s agents and United are reportedly in good communication, it is anticipated that the Frenchman will demand a salary of between £8 and £9 million annually, which is considered to be very high at this point when taking into account a signing-on bonus.

Ahead of their Community Shield match a week earlier on August 10 and their Premier League opener against Fulham on August 16, Manchester United is working hard to complete the deal as quickly as possible. Rabiot is now considered a top target, but if a deal isn’t completed in the upcoming weeks, AS Monaco’s 25-year-old midfielder Youssouf Fofana may be a cheaper option, according to the Caught Offside report.

With 22 appearances for Les Bleus, Fofana is thought of as a hard-hitting, box-to-box midfield player. In their ongoing search to replace Declan Rice, who left the team a year ago, West Ham United is also eyeing him as a top target this summer.
