After winning their friendly encounter in the USA 2-1 against Premier League rivals Arsenal, Liverpool is currently two for two in their pre-season preparations.

Following their wins in their previous meetings at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, both clubs continued on their American tours.

After defeating Real Betis of LALIGA in Pittsburgh three days prior, Liverpool emerged victorious, surpassing Arsenal, who were unable to win three straight games against their northern rivals after defeating Manchester United in Inglewood.

In their preseason games thus far, Arne Slot’s team has appeared well-oiled, and they seized the lead early in the contest in the thirteenth minute.

It was a classic Liverpool goal, supporting rumours that Arne Slot won’t make significant adjustments to Jurgen Klopp’s lineup. Harvey Eliott played Salah through on goal following a long ball from the custodian. The Egyptian international finished coolly past Karl Hein after cutting in behind the defence.

After a brilliant team play, Liverpool’s advantage was extended by Fabio Carvalho in the 34th minute. Once again, Eliott was the creator; he dribbled the ball from the edge of the box into space for Carvalho, who scored expertly, by taking advantage of the space behind the Arsenal defence.

In the fortyth minute, Kai Havertz gave Arsenal a response. A traditional centre forward, he was the first to react when a ball was played across goal and entered the frame of the goal.

In the second half, both teams exerted increased pressure to score more goals, with Arsenal having the best of the opportunities. However, their inability to establish a reliable center-forward left them to lament their wastefulness.

Whether they will sign a center-forward this summer is still up in the air. Nevertheless, they don’t appear to be taking any initiative to fix it because they are about to finalise their second summer purchase, neither of which is an attacker.v
