Crysencio Summerville, a former Liverpool target, is reportedly nearing a $31.9 million [£25 million] transfer to West Ham United, with add-ons.

The Dutchman “will undergo his medical” at the London-based organisation today, according to Fabrizio Romano, despite Brighton & Hove Albion’s earlier interest.

“Crysencio Summerville will visit West Ham today for his physical. The Italian reporter told The Daily Briefing, “The deal is almost done, we are just waiting for the signing of all documents.”

“Brighton expressed interest in Crysencio, but no deal was ever reached.”

“As exclusively disclosed, West Ham performed a fantastic job behind the scenes in June and then made a formal bid approximately ten days ago.

“The Hammers made a very wise move with this deal, which is worth £25 million plus add-ons.”

Though they seem to have more strongly identified themselves with Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon, the Merseysiders were supposed to have interest of their own.

The former Feyenoord player contributed 28 goals in 43 games (in all competitions) to Leeds’ Championship triumph run.

Liverpool have made clear who their top target is

We now have no doubts that the wide man on the left side of the Magpies is the best option to strengthen the position.

All that’s left to decide are who will be sold to create room and whether or not an agreement can be made (and, more broadly, whether a swap deal is necessary to lower the asking price).

Although it sounds fantastic to have Gordon, Luis Diaz, and Cody Gakpo on the left side, we don’t think the team will permit so much depth in one position.

Our Colombian international appears to be the most likely to go, despite Barcelona’s somewhat disorganised financial situation attracting possible suitors. Conversely, PSG’s alleged interest has reportedly decreased in recent weeks.
