The Gunners and Blues were at the forefront of a group of Premier Clubs that were apparently interested in acquiring the services of the winger.
Barcelona has outperformed Arsenal and Chelsea in securing the contract of Dani Olmo, the best player of Euro 2024.

The RB Leipzig player has attracted significant attention on the transfer market this summer because to his outstanding performance for the Spanish national team in Germany, which contributed to their victory in the tournament. Olmo shown exceptional performance by scoring three goals and providing two assists, making a significant contribution to Luis de la Fuente’s team.

Both Chelsea and Arsenal, two football clubs from London, were rumoured to have shown interest in signing the player before the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season. Manchester United and Manchester City were both mentioned as possible interested parties at various times during the transfer season. Pep Guardiola previously referred to Olmo as a ‘exceptional player’ with a ‘promising future’ five years ago when there were initial rumours of a prospective move from Dinamo Zagreb to Manchester City.

Nevertheless, it seems that Barcelona, the renowned Catalan club, has emerged as the victor in the competition to secure Olmo’s signature. On Thursday, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano announced on social media site X that the winger has reached an agreement on personal conditions.

Barcelona now needs to establish the framework of the transfer with RB Leipzig. The transfer charge for this transaction is set at €55 million, which is approximately equivalent to £46 million. Additionally, there are €7 million in potential add-ons that are anticipated to increase the total price. Romano asserts that Olmo is highly determined to transfer to Barcelona, despite receiving attention from Premier League clubs

The individual from Leipzig formerly possessed a release clause of £50 million in his contractual agreement, however, it is widely thought that this clause has lapsed as of July 20th. Olmo is set to enter into a six-year agreement with Hansi Flick’s team.

Nico Williams has become a top transfer target for Barcelona, but it seems that the talented player from Athletic Bilbao is now inclined to remain with his current team for another year, despite receiving interest from other clubs.

Regarding his future in light of the Premier League rumours, Olmo stated to Marca last month: “We will wait and see.” The individuals responsible for handling the transfer are already aware of my intentions. Uncertain about my future in Germany, I am yet to make a decision. I desire to be in a place where I am esteemed and cherished, and my primary objective is to achieve victory. There are other alternatives; we will observe the outcome.
