Tyrell Malacia has been absent from Man United’s lineup since the conclusion of the 2022-23 Premier League season.

Tyrell Malacia, the defender for Manchester United, is unlikely to be eligible for selection until October.

The 24-year-old defender, who plays as a left back, has been absent from Manchester United’s matches since May 2023 after he underwent two knee surgeries. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the club’s Carrington training centre.

United anticipated the return of Malacia in January and ended the loan agreement with Tottenham for left back Sergio Reguilon in preparation for Malacia’s comeback. Nevertheless, the Dutchman encountered a hindrance.

Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, expressed that Malacia is currently in a favourable condition. However, he indicated that it would take around two more months for Malacia to regain his fitness for matches.

“He is currently in a favourable condition,” Ten Hag affirmed, “however, he is absent because I exclusively selected players who are capable of participating in matches or attending team training sessions.”

Fulham has made a third offer for McTominay.

“He is in close proximity, but he is currently in a state of progress.” With minimal advance warning, he can promptly resume team training and thereafter participate in team games.

“I believe Malacia could potentially return within a span of two months.”

Malacia was the initial acquisition made by Ten Hag at United, joining from Lyon for a fee of £14.6 million in July 2022. Throughout the 2022-23 season, he was included in all 62 matchday squads.

The Dutch national player has been inactive since his last appearance against Croatia in the Nations League on June 14, 2023.

Ten Hag lacked a dedicated left defender for most of the previous season, as Luke Shaw only featured in 14 out of United’s 52 matches. The 29-year-old is expected to attend training next week following his participation in England’s journey to the final of the European Championship.

Harry Amass, a 17-year-old player, has been positioned as a left back in United’s two pre-season tour matches against Arsenal and Real Betis in the United States. Last month, the 19-year-old Sam Murray participated in matches against Rosenborg and Rangers.
