TRANSFER UPDATE : Arsenal has just rejected Marseille latest offer for Nketiah

Marseille’s perseverance on signing Eddie Nketiah during this transfer window appears to be paying off, as the French club appears to be highly eager to make him their Number Nine. However, it appears that Arteta and Edu are still not even close to reaching an agreement with OM on the conditions of the transaction.

Considering that Roberto de Zerbi is now the head coach of Marseille, the club anticipates that it will be able to compete for the title of French Ligue 1 this season. It is only natural that he would want to do his shopping in the Premier League, and it is also important to note that Arsenal and Marseille have a long history of conducting business together that has been successful for the French giants.

Nevertheless, it would appear that they have not been able to match Arsenal’s terms, as Fabrizio Romano disclosed in his Daily Breifing on CaughtOffside this morning:… Olympique Marseille has made a new offer for Eddie Nketiah, but Arsenal has decided to turn it down. Despite the fact that the proposal is somewhere in the neighbourhood of 27 million euros, it was still deemed insufficient to allow Eddie to leave. Personal terms were agreed upon by OM with Nketiah, but there has been no agreement reached with the Gunners.

At times, I find myself wishing that Arsenal could complete all of their transfer transactions earlier. This is especially true in light of the fact that it was indicated this morning that Arsenal simply cannot confirm any new recruits at the club until it is confirmed that our sales are going through.

Why do I keep feeling this nagging anxiety that everyone will be attempting to debate about every pound right up until the final hour of the transfer window? This really makes sense, considering that we can only have a certain number of players in our roster. However, I don’t understand why I keep having this worry.
