Arsenal
Before the week comes to a close, Arsenal has demonstrated a substantial amount of interest in acquiring the services of Adrien Rabiot, a great player who is considered to be among the best midfielders.
Over the course of the summer transfer season, Arsenal is looking to acquire a new midfielder, and they have already been associated with a number of different names.
Mikel Merino, who plays for Real Sociedad, has informally agreed to personal terms with the club, but the Gunners have not yet made a formal offer to acquire his services.
According to a recent report by Tutto Juve, Arsenal is one of two Premier League clubs, along with Liverpool, that have demonstrated a “significant interest” in Rabiot.
Mikel Arteta, the manager of the Gunners, is looking to add more experience and stability in the midfield, and he has his sights set on Rabiot as a free agent to bring in.
It is more likely that Arsenal will get Merino than Rabiot.
Following their decision to end their relationship with Emile Smith Rowe, the Gunners intend to make an investment in a new central midfielder.
According to reports, Merino has already agreed to the terms of a long-term contract, and he made the decision to sign with the Gunners rather than Barcelona or Atletico Madrid.
It is highly possible that the club will proceed with a formal offer for the player who is 28 years old. They will be aiming to acquire his services for a fee that is lower than the price tag of £26 million.
Even if Rabiot is still being connected to the Gunners, we do not believe that they will be able to acquire two left-footed central midfielders during the same transfer window.
When it comes to both defence and offence, Merino is a significant improvement over Rabiot. A staggering 10.2 duels were won by him every game during the previous season, in addition to 2.4 tackles and 6.2 recoveries. For Sociedad, he contributed to the scoring of thirteen goals.
Rafael Rabiot, on the other hand, won 5.7 duels and 1.9 tackles per league game for Juventus, in addition to recovering 4.8 balls. Over the course of all tournaments, the Frenchman was only involved in eight goals for the Bianconeri.
However, despite the fact that Rabiot is available on a free transfer, his price could still be substantially more. Prior to the end of June, the seven-time league champion was already earning a weekly salary of 145,000 pounds at Juventus, where his contract was about to expire.
It is highly probable that he will request a signing-on incentive that is significantly larger than £200,000 per week. Merino, on the other hand, makes £52,000 per week at Sociedad and has the potential to join the club if he receives a one hundred percent rise.
With regard to both the sporting and financial aspects, we believe that a move for Merino would be beneficial for Arsenal. It’s possible that the rumours about Rabiot are being fuelled by agents in an effort to pique the curiosity of rival clubs.
