According to sources, Manchester United’s attempt to sign Manuel Ugarte has stopped because they are unwilling to pay the amount Paris Saint-Germain is requesting.

United prioritised signing the Uruguayan international this summer, following through on deals with Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee.

According to reports, Ugarte has told PSG that he only wants to sign for United this summer, and the 23-year-old and the Premier League team have already worked out personal details.

But United and PSG still haven’t come to an agreement on a price.

The Athletic claims that PSG is requesting €60 million (£51.4 million) in exchange for Ugarte, and United has made it apparent that they are unwilling to pay their asking price.

According to the source, United and PSG are “quite far apart” in their efforts to come to an understanding, and United is currently looking at other midfield possibilities.

In the meantime, United and Bayern Munich are negotiating a double contract for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

Bayern Munich rejected United’s combined offer of £51 million last week, and the German team is now requesting a £64 million price for both players.

Erik ten Hag acknowledged last week that United’s transfer strategy is being impacted by the Profit and Sustainability Rules of the Premier League.

Ten Hag stated, “Every club has those limitations.”

Every club’s FFP rules are available there. We also need to follow those guidelines and control this.

“In order to assemble the greatest team possible, we must manage it as well as possible.”
