Just In”-Former Liverpool and Everton boss sacked by La Liga club amid relegation battle

Just In: La Liga club fires former manager of Everton and Liverpool amid relegation struggle.
After eight months in charge of the La Liga team, former manager of Liverpool and Everton Rafa Benitez has parted ways with Celta Vigo.

The five-time champion Liverpool manager, who won the FA Cup and UEFA Super Cup during his six-year tenure at Anfield, led the team to a historic Champions League final victory over AC Milan in 2005. His legacy has caused mixed feelings on both sides of Merseyside. At Everton, though, the seasoned manager faced greater difficulties. In his 22 games in charge, he only managed to win seven of them, and he found it difficult to establish himself at Goodison Park.
January 2022 saw Benitez part ways with the Toffees, but he returned to the dugout with Celta the previous summer, hoping to help Los Celestes get over a challenging season that saw them finish the year just three points above the relegation zone.
Rafael Benítez and his staff are leaving RC Celta after eight months of complete dedication and commitment, but the team has not produced the results the club had hoped for, according to a statement the La Liga team released on their official website on Tuesday.

“Rafa Benítez and his assistants have earned the club’s deepest gratitude for their unwavering work ethic, professionalism, and honesty since their arrival. In addition, RC Celta wishes them luck and prosperity going forward.

A trip to Sevilla on Sunday afternoon will mark Celta’s first game without Benitez.Benitez had a difficult task to turn around his team’s fortunes following the departure of star midfield player Gabri Veiga to Saudi Pro League team Al-Ahli. Celta was only two points and one place above the relegation zone following a 4-0 loss to former club Real Madrid.
