During his first stint, Michael Edwards had a significant influence on Liverpool’s recruitment; now, he needs to perform well once more to help shape the post-Jurgen Klopp era.

On Tuesday, March 12, the Merseysiders reached an agreement to have Edwards rejoin Anfield as the football CEO. In addition to managing the football department of the Premier League’s biggest teams, Fenway Sports Group will give him the responsibility of spearheading an expansion that will see him take charge of a second team.

The Reds’ recent success, which included titles in the Premier League, Champions League, League Cup, and FA Cup, was greatly attributed to Edwards, 44. Daily Star Sport examines the numerous transfer hits and misses he experienced during his first spell at Anfield, starting with the worst, as Liverpool supporters celebrate his return.

Given his regrettable history of injuries, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is on the list, which may seem harsh to the former Southampton and Arsenal player. ‘The ox’ started out well for Liverpool, but he missed a full year of action due to a knee injury he suffered against Roma in the 2018 Champions League semifinal.

Since Fabinho took over his spot in the starting lineup and his rhythm, he has only been used as a substitute. Even though he won a ton of trophies at Anfield, it seems like Arsenal did pretty well to acquire him for £35 million, a sizable sum for a squad player.
