Man Utd and Bayern Munich have reportedly agreed on a cost and salary arrangement worth £94.2 million for the signing of De Ligt during the summer transfer window.

The Dutch international has already reached an agreement to earn £52 million over the next five years, or £200,000 per week.

But the Red Devils were holding out for a deal on the cost and were unwilling to pay the requested amount of 50 million euros, or £42.2 million.

In order to finally buy Matthijs de Ligt, Man Utd and Bayern Munich have now agreed on the precise fee.

Supporters of the Old Trafford team had anticipated that under Jim Ratcliffe’s ownership, the team’s practice of paying over the odds to get signings would end.

To be truthful, not much has changed in terms of the transfer business during this summer transfer season.

Man Utd signed Joshua Zirkzee from the Italian club for a sum greater than the release clause set by Bologna.

Furthermore, the 20-time English champions shelled almost 70 million euros for the untested young player Leny Yoro, who is currently sidelined for several months.

After Man Utd’s attempts at delay were fruitless, they finally agreed to pay Bayern’s requested sum of £42.2 million in order to sign De Ligt.

Yoro’s injury forced another signing, and the Netherlands international’s presence could aid the central defence issue.

In order for the former Ajax player to be fit for the Premier League opening next weekend, United must now make sure that the medical and all other formalities are finished on time.
