Manchester United legend In his first game in command of Plymouth Argyle, Wayne Rooney had challenges as his team lost 4-0 to Sheffield Wednesday.
Despite their Championship season getting off to a losing start, sharp-eyed observers noticed an error made by the Argyle kit guy. Error on Adam Forshaw’s shirt: ‘Foreshaw’ was the spelling error that befell the former midfield player for Leeds United and Brentford.
In the context of Rooney’s bow as the new man leading the Pilgrims, the error was simple. After having the majority of the ball, Sheffield Wednesday eventually broke through after 35 minutes when Jamal Lowe scored on his debut, making it a challenging afternoon for Rooney’s team.

Seven minutes into the second half, Brendan Galloway unintentionally deposited the ball in his own net, adding to their problems. Lowe’s attempt to double the Owls’ lead took a clever deflection before it struck the former Everton defender.
Josh Windass’ cool finish completed a flowing play for Danny Rohl’s team, sealing the three points nine minutes from time. Wednesday added a fourth goal deep into stoppage time, capping an awful performance for Argyle.
After former England coach Ian Foster was fired in the final stretch of the previous campaign, the 38-year-old was named the new manager at Home Park.
Following a turbulent tenure in the dugout at St Andrew’s, Rooney returned to the bench several months after being fired by Birmingham City in January after 83 days and 15 games.
The all-time leading goal scorer for Manchester United will be looking to rebound from their midweek Carabao Cup loss to Cheltenham before their home campaign begins next Saturday (August 17) when they host Hull City.
