Real Madrid player Rodrygo is apparently still a target for Manchester City.

Following Kylian Mbappe’s debut in the Spanish capital, the Brazilian has been constantly linked to a move to the Premier League, which is expected to have an effect on those who were already a part of Los Blancos’ frontline.

Several European teams have been informed by a Mundo Deportivo story that Rodrygo is “likely to be sacrificed” as a result of Mbappe’s transfer.

According to reports, City “have not forgotten” about the 23-year-old, especially after selling Julian Alvarez, whose future at Real Madrid is still up in the air. According to the aforementioned article, Liverpool “will be there” to try and close a deal if the right opportunity arises and they are also interested in signing him.

Despite all the speculation about his future, Rodrygo appears to be continuing as usual for the time being. He is still working with the first squad ahead of Carlo Ancelotti’s club’s European Super Cup match against Atalanta on August 14.

In other transfer news, Alvarez has been seen arriving in Madrid in preparation for his upcoming professional endeavours. The Argentina international appears to have officially ended his time at City after being caught on camera signing a shirt of the team he will soon be representing.

Before Saturday’s Community Shield, Pep Guardiola was questioned about Alvarez’s leaving and responded, saying, “I don’t like to tell players what they have to do.” Although they are good, contracts can be broken. Why are you here if you’re not happy?

“The team adores him for his demeanour, but as I’ve stated many times regarding the players, if he wants to go and seeks a new challenge—Atlético is one of the best clubs in Spain and Europe—I agreed it was acceptable when they recommended it to me via the club. Suppose he stays even though he doesn’t want to.
