Long-term contract agreed: Man United reach agreement with World-class playmaker over long-term transfer deal

Man Utd is still searching the transfer market for alternatives in order to find a replacement for Casemiro. The Brazilian hasn’t left the team yet, and as of right now, there doesn’t appear to be any real interest in him.
Man Utd need an understudy even if the 32-year-old decides to stay at Old Trafford for the upcoming campaign. Someone who might eventually take over the position after learning the trade secrets from the former Real Madrid sensation.

The most recent player to be connected to a move to Old Trafford for this role is midfielder Sander Berge of Burnley. We reported earlier today that Manchester United was planning a bid of approximately £25 million to sign the 26-year-old.

According to The Sun, the Red Devils are prepared to pay the Norwegian £100,000 a week in order to sign him this summer. For the English club, this would translate to almost £5.2 million annually, which is a respectable compensation package.

Berge would be receiving a higher pay than the £40,000 a week he was previously receiving from Burnley. Should the Red Devils be able to sell Casemiro this summer, it would also be a lot less than the absurd salaries he is now on at Manchester United.

Have we seen enough of Berge’s game, though, at 26 to conclude that he will take Casemiro’s place? He is not a pure defensive midfielder, to begin with, and frequently plays as a #8 for his team.

Man Utd will be taking a big risk if they sign the Norwegian. Although the initial outlay isn’t very large, the Red Devils can’t afford to make the same mistake twice. While it would be wiser to go with a safer option like Ugarte, we’ll wait and see if the team decides to sign Berge.
