Deal completed: Manchester United has finally signed a £44 million World Cup hero after the player’s club agreed to reduce the player’s transfer fee in exchange for Man United. The player is expected to arrive tomorrow for a medical check-up.

PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte was among the first players Man Utd were linked to during this summer season.

The Uruguayan international has finished an incredible Copa America campaign in which he led his country to the semifinals.

The 23-year-old is not regarded highly by PSG head coach Luis Enrique, who barely started any of his games the previous campaign. In place of the Uruguayan, Joao Neves has been signed by the Spaniard who is typically adept at selecting a quality midfield player.

But Ugarte has a ceiling that is high. Ever since his Sporting CP days, he has been held in great regard. The South American is a traditional defensive midfielder and would be a great addition to the Man Utd squad, replacing someone like Casemiro.

El Pais reports that PSG had anticipated paying about €60 million to let go of the gifted Uruguayan. For the player, United made a proposal of about £44.6 million (€52 million).

The French club thought it was insufficient, but they have since dropped their standards, giving Manchester United the upper hand and bringing the player one step closer to joining the English team.

The player’s keenness to just want a move to Old Trafford this summer is one thing that Man Utd have going for them.

The Red Devils now have the upper hand in the negotiations and are free to continue for as long as necessary to get favourable terms.

Because they currently have too many options in midfield, PSG must sell. The situation has only become worse since Neves was added. Man Utd’s terms will improve the longer they play the waiting game.

Nevertheless, the transfer window is almost over, so a choice must be taken quickly. Ugarte would be another wise addition to Man Utd’s roster, which has added some quality players this summer. Let’s see if the club can complete the transaction before the deadline.
