TERMS AGREED: Manchester United and the player to sign a four-year contract with a one-year option today are about to sign a £70 million superstar. Jersey number is confirmed already.

Man Utd appears poised to close up what has been a highly significant transfer window with a busy last 48 hours in the transfer window.

Dan Ashworth has made sure Sir Jim Ratcliffe has strengthened the team in every way, answering everyone’s question about what will be different under his leadership.

Any club that signs Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Manuel Ugarte this summer will look back on it as a major accomplishment. With this ideal weaponry at his disposal, Erik ten Hag can carry on with the project’s construction.

Man Utd appears to have room to grow on this roster. We previously reported on a narrative that said Raheem Sterling was eager to move from Chelsea to Old Trafford and that Dan Ashworth was the driving factor behind the transfer.

Give Me Sport now reports that Man Utd is prepared to reach an annual contract of £7.8 million to sign Sterling this summer. The athlete understands that he won’t be Erik ten Hag’s regular starter, but he will still have opportunities.

This equates to roughly £150,000 weekly pay for Sterling, a significant decrease from the £325,000 he now makes through his Chelsea contract. The offer from Manchester United is not even close to half of what he is now making.

To enable this transfer to occur, Sterling will need to concede that he is a squad player at Manchester United and accept this wage reduction. After a few uneven seasons at Chelsea, the 29-year-old really has nothing to stand on.

Sterling has a track record of winning the Premier League, which makes him an asset. Although Chelsea’s performances haven’t been outstanding, neither has his form, therefore the 29-year-old might be able to start again by joining a new team.

Sterling would hold the rare distinction of having played for Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool, and Man City should Man Utd manage to sign him. We’ll see if the seasoned winger gets to Old Trafford before tomorrow’s deadline passes.
