Gary Lineker named Pep Guardiola as his “long shot” choice to be the next England boss. The FA is being pushed to get Guardiola to leave Manchester City.

As a temporary measure, Carsley took over after Southgate stepped down after Euro 2024.
The treble winner is in the last year of his deal.
The former manager of Barcelona and Bayern Munich is in the last year of his deal with the current Premier League winners. Guardiola hasn’t said much about his plans for the future, so for now, everything is still open.
There has been talk that the Catalan coach could become England’s manager in 2025. A stable replacement for Gareth Southgate is being looked for, and U21 coach Lee Carsley is taking over for the start of another Nations League season.
When asked by DAZN for his top pick, Lineker told them this, then went on to explain why a deal might be hard: It’s Pep Guardiola. He might not be interested in the money; I think he would be interested in the chance to win something with this great group of players. I don’t think he’s interested, but he might be, and he hasn’t said he isn’t interested in his press appearances.

“He’s obviously making a lot of money at Manchester City. I don’t think the FA could compete with that.” I don’t think he would take the job for the money if he did. Even though I don’t think it will happen, Pep will do what he wants, and the FA will have to find a way for him to lead England.
Morgan Gibbs-White and Noni Madueke were in Carsley’s first team. He will be in charge for the future games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland. While the Football Association thinks about what to do next, they have not reached out to Guardiola.
