Angus Kinnear in talks with billionaire heir before Leeds United win v Coventry
Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear was deep in conversation with Peter Lowy ahead of the 3-0 win against Coventry City on 28 September.
Graham Smyth shared the interaction at Elland Road, with the billionaire heir part of the Whites’ board alongside Paraag Marathe and Kinnear.
Goals from Wilfried Gnonto, Jayden Bogle and Joel Piroe easily sealed the three points as Leeds rose to fifth in the Championship table.
Writing for the Yorkshire Evening Post, Smyth shared what he spotted: “CEO Angus Kinnear deep in conversation with billionaire heir Pete Lowy in the directors’ box during the warm-up.”
Angus Kinnear and Peter Lowy locked in Leeds United talks
Lowy became a director at Elland Road back in 2021 with the 49ers Enterprises now owning the club, with his influence becoming clearer.
With plans now confirmed to expand the capacity at Elland Road, the facilities around it will also need to be improved, and this is where Lowy comes in.
The significant investor is said to be “obsessed” with improving the transport infrastructure around the stadium, with a rail link mentioned [Daily Mail].
The 49ers have already committed £10million to the plans surrounding Elland Road, and that is only going to increase as the work begins [The Athletic].
Lowy and Kinnear will be working closely together consistently, and it is great to have two figures so influential and involved on what looks like a daily basis.
With another win on the pitch against Coventry, things are really starting to look up ahead of two huge away games at Norwich and Sunderland this week.
In other Leeds United news, Ao Tanaka must step up for the Whites after an injury twist in the win v Coventry.
The Wales international’s last appearance for the Whites came on 23 August when he found the back of the net against Sheffield Wednesday.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about James: “This sounds like a Grade 3 hamstring injury.
“If that’s the case, I reckon they will be aiming for a return to training during the international break.
The 26-year-old has primarily played on the right flank this season for Leeds but he is an option on the left wing as well.
James has found the back of the net once in three league games and will be looking to improve his goals-to-game ratio once he returns from his setback.
