“They’re going to win Champions League this season and that’s because they’ve got a very good player who understands Champions League”: Pep Gaurdiorla amazed by Arsenal’s star performance vs PSG yesterday

Some may believe Arsenal delivered a statement win in the Champions League on Tuesday night by defeating Paris Saint-Germain.

Thierry Henry, on the other hand, was not in that boat, despite the fact that Arsenal deserved to win and were in control for much of the game.

Mikel Arteta’s team drew 0-0 in Italy against Atalanta in their first Champions League encounter, with David Raya making an astonishing double save from a penalty.

And now the Premier League championship contenders have their first win in Europe, two clean sheets, and everything is looking good.

Arsenal’s tactical style, particularly in away matches, has been a major talking topic this season, sparking several discussions.

From Arsenal’s decision to play ten men against Manchester City to how defensive they appear to be on the road when faced with a major challenge.

On the one hand, Mikel Arteta would point to his team’s Premier League-best defence last season (just 29 goals surrendered).

And, once again, they appear to be on track to produce the strongest defence in England’s top division.

But a certain great striker wants to see a difference, and he believes Arsenal’s away trip to Milan to face Inter will give it.

Arsenal will play Inter Milan at the San Siro next month, followed by a journey to Portugal to face Sporting Lisbon.

Henry added that if Arsenal can ‘win strong’ against Inter, like they did against PSG, he will be able to become ‘loud’ as a Gooner in the Champions League, according to CBS Sports on Paramount+.

However, until then, he does not believe their triumph over the French champs on home soil can be considered a ‘real statement’ victory.

Thierry Henry wants Arsenal to improve away from home in the Champions League.
“The team (PSG) is well balanced, they had the ball and a lot of possession, that’s about it,” Henry went on. “You don’t have the match-winning ability you used to have – yet you left Dembele at home for a reason we must respect, but he would have definitely helped tonight.

“It is natural right now for Arsenal to defeat Paris Saint-Germain at home. I hope to win like that away from home against Paris Saint-Germain or anybody comes your way.

“Go at Inter and win convincingly. Be strong on defense. None of them had a shot on target against Porto. I want that sort of away triumph so that I can talk about it and be loud as an Arsenal supporter, saying, ‘Hey, we can win in Europe’. Don’t get me wrong: I didn’t win with Arsenal in Europe. But I’m telling you, a genuine statement win is something you do away from home.”
