Jamie Carragher can’t resist fresh dig at Matthijs de Ligt moments after Man Utd howlers

Manchester United wasted a two-goal lead against Porto in the Europa League on Thursday, with £43 million acquisition Matthijs de Ligt among their poorest players at the Estadio de Dragao.

United enjoyed a comfortable two-goal lead early on, but Erik ten Hag’s erratic team squandered it before halftime. Fans and analysts blamed £43 million acquisition De Ligt for Pepe’s 2-1 goal, Samu Omorodion’s equalizer, and the Porto striker’s second of the night.

The 25-year-old had success under Ten Hag at former club Ajax, captaining them as a youngster to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.
