Keith Wyness, the former head of Everton, speculated that the Chelsea civil war would have “thawed” with the significant hiring of a new CEO.

The 66-year-old, who ran a football consultancy advising elite clubs after serving as CEO of Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009, stated on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali will be aware that the Blues’ internal strife is a “bad look.”

Last month, it was widely reported that Eghbali’s Clearlake Capital, which owns 61.5% of Chelsea, and Boehly, who owns 13%, are competing for complete ownership of the team.

However, as reported by The Mirror on September 25, Clearlake has officially appointed David Beeston of Liverpool to the position of managing director.

Boehly and Eghbali were also observed seated next to one another during Chelsea’s most recent 3-0 victory against West Ham.

Wyness argues that Beeston’s hiring could signal the end of Chelsea’s civil war.
Wyness hinted that for Beeston to join Chelsea, the two would have needed to consent.
