Mohamed Salah’s contract will expire at the conclusion of the season, and his future became a key topic of concern for manager Arne Slot in his talks with the media.

Arne Slot has dismissed calls for an update on Mohamed Salah’s contract negotiations after PSG made a proposal for the Egyptian.

Salah has thrived under new manager Slot, scoring five goals in nine appearances in all competitions for Liverpool. But his contract with the Reds will expire at the end of the season, and the 32-year-old recently revealed that discussions have yet to begin.

Salah’s future has been a significant topic of discussion during Slot’s media appearances during the campaign. However, he has declined to reveal anything, since the Dutchman prefers to keep things private.

He has now attempted to end the topic before the Premier League’s international break. Slot sought to brush off contract questions when he spoke with the media ahead of Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace. He said, “Contracts?! (laughs) I was hoping you didn’t use the word ‘contract’ in your previous inquiry, since I was stating ‘Trent is doing this and that…’. It’s the same dull answer as usual.

“I understand if you ask me this once every two weeks, but if you ask me again in two or three days, you’ll get the same answer, and people will think I’m boring them!” So try again after the international break!”

Slot’s comments come as PSG seeks to capture Salah on a free transfer. According to The Sun, the French club is willing to offer the attacker a three-year contract with salaries that would blow Liverpool out of the water.Salah will be free to engage with international teams once the January transfer market opens. The French side has shifted away from their Galaticos transfer strategy in recent years, but the desire to acquire Salah may be too strong.

Salah wants to continue playing at the highest level, and PSG’s Qatari owners are under pressure to pursue a superstar after Kylian Mbappe left. Slot has made it clear that he wants to keep Salah, whose most recent goal came against Bologna on Wednesday.

“What can I tell you about Mo?” What you see now is what you will receive. If you put him in positions like this frequently enough, he can score a goal. He also provided excellent assistance. “I believe Mo went three games without scoring before joining the Wolves,” he remarked.

“In football, it is possible that you will score one or no goals in three games. But these guys, like Mo, Darwin, and the others, will always score goals if you keep playing them; the problem is, I can’t play them all!

“But it’s nice to have them, because they always score goals. Mo has done quite well today, and I am pleased with his performance at the time. I’m not looking forward to next season as long as we have six group games to play and hopefully many more to follow.”
