The one Arsenal player who performed well enough to satisfy Aaron Ramsdale today is the one who approached me after the game and said, “We miss you.” In truth, he is the only one who is missing me right now.

In the Premier League, Southampton was defeated 3-1 by Arsenal.

The Gunners were all over the Saints early in the game and had a fantastic start. But in the first half, they were unable to score past Aaron Ramsdale.

Arsenal got off to a poor start in the second half. The Gunners were awakened when Southampton took the lead thanks to Cameron Archer.

Before Gabriel Martinelli hit the net to give them the lead, Kai Havertz almost immediately equalized. A late goal by Bukayo Saka sealed the victory.

Southampton vs. Arsenal player ratings
David Raya: 7.
Raya did not play in the first half and was unable to make much of an impact on the goal in the second. But the fact that he gave in will annoy him.

Thomas Partey: 7.5
For the first time in more than a year, Partey got the start at right back, where he played admirably but did not spend as much time as a natural right-back. He was somewhat unlucky not to score considering he did have two shots on goal.

Six out of ten for William Saliba
Saliba bears some of the burden for Southampton’s score. The unexpected move by the Frenchman gave Cameron Archer permission to cut inside, which provided him the room he needed to score.

Daniel Magalhaes: 7.75 out of 10.
Once again, Gabriel performed admirably in the center of defense. The Brazilian is improving each week, but he will undoubtedly be upset that he did not cause any problems for Ramsdale during set-pieces.

Calafiori Riccardo: 8.5/10
Once again, Calafiori excelled. The Italian has an amazing aura about him, appears so composed when he’s fighting, and is quite fearless. Still another outstanding performance.

Jorginho: 7.5
Jorginho performed admirably when used in Partey’s typical position against the Saints. He played as good as he could and didn’t have to do much on defense.

Declan Rice scored a 7.5 out of 10.
Rice put up a lot of effort once more from midfield. He ran the entire game, handled the ball with neatness, and performed his meager defensive duties with ease.

Sterling Raheem: 7 out of 10
When Sterling made his Premier League debut for Arsenal against the Saints, he displayed exceptional skill. In addition to nearly winning a penalty, he put himself in some advantageous positions. But Southampton’s goal came about as a result of his loss of possession.

Kai Havertz: nine out of ten
Once again, Havertz was excellent. Although we weren’t thrilled with his return to a midfield position, he performed admirably. He had excellent mobility, a great work rate, and he also scored an incredible goal.

9.5 out of 10 for Bukayo Saka
Saka played brilliantly against the Saints. In the first minute of the match, he caused problems for their defense, and in the second half, he ended up grabbing two assists. Late in the game, he also scored a fantastic goal. Amazing work!

Gabriel Jesus (10):
Though it didn’t exactly work out, Arteta took the unexpected decision to give Jesus a start. The Brazilian appeared smart early in the game, but as it progressed, he simply vanished. When Saka failed to send the ball to Jesus, Jesus became even more enraged; that could have been a costly move for Arsenal. Thankfully, it didn’t.

Leandro Trossard’s replacements: 8/10
Arsenal’s level was quickly raised when Trossard entered the game off the bench. He demonstrated why he is superior to the Brazilian in the hierarchy by carrying out all of Jesus’s instructions.

Angel Martinelli: 8.5 out of 10.
Arsenal benefited greatly from Martinelli’s injection of much-needed vigor into the match. To put them ahead, he also scored a really well-played goal. The Brazilian gave a fantastic performance.

Mikel Merino: 6.6 out of 10.
Seeing Merino again was a pleasure. Though he didn’t accomplish much, the Spaniard did what needed to be done to help Arsenal win.

Tomiyasu Takehiro: 5 out of 10.
To replace Partey at right back, Tomiyasu entered the game late. With Ben White and Jurrien Timber out with injuries, Arsenal is severely lacking in options at right back, so his injury comeback comes at the ideal time.

Jakub Kiwior: (5) out of ten
Just before the second half’s stoppage time began, the Pole entered the game and had little to do.
