De Ligt dropped, 4 big changes | Expected Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa with Mainoo decision

Manchester United face Aston Villa in today’s Premier League match at Villa Park.

The Red Devils are winless in their past four games in all competitions. In Tuesday, Harry Maguire scored a stoppage-time equalizer against Porto in the Europa League.

This afternoon, the team faces a difficult task against the Villans that seems to be a must-win. Erik ten Hag’s job is on the line, and any other outcome might result in his firing.

United are currently six points below the top four and cannot afford to lose further ground today.

Formation: 4-2-3-1.

Predicted Lineup:

Andre Onana has been United’s main goalkeeper since joining from Inter Milan. He has missed only two games across all competitions. The Cameroonian has been in excellent form this season and is expected to continue between the sticks.

In the back four, we anticipate one alteration. Matthijs de Ligt had a challenging voyage to Porto, where he struggled aerially against Samu Omorodion. The Dutch goalkeeper failed to deal with the striker’s aerial and physical presence, as he scored twice.

De Ligt may make way for Harry Maguire. The Englishman might be joined by Lisandro Martinez, who has to improve after an indifferent performance in Portugal. Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot will stay in the full-back roles.

Dalot has battled with positioning and attention at left-back this season. We believe the Portuguese should revert to his preferred right back position, with Mazraoui on the left.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen should be pulled from the starting eleven. Manuel Ugarte is by far the greatest defensive midfielder on the team, and United will need his legs in the center of the midfield.

Eriksen has recently rediscovered form, scoring three goals and assisting three times, although the Dane is not the most mobile. United cannot afford the same against a high-pressing Villa team on the road.

Kobbie Mainoo faces a late fitness test due to an apparent knee problem. The club graduate is expected to start alongside Ugarte in a game that might decide Ten Hag’s future at United.

Moving ahead, Amad Diallo should give way to Alejandro Garnacho on the right side.

Diallo completed 100% of his passes in midweek, but he struggled in the final third. He had one shot on goal and two touches in the opposite box in 68 minutes.

Garnacho, on the other hand, had an outstanding performance throughout his 45-minute appearance. The Argentine has eight shots on target and eight touches in the box. He indirectly helped to the equalizer.

Marcus Rashford, who scored and assisted on Thursday, should be a lock for a left flank starting spot.

Bruno Fernandes has been in horrible form recently. He received an unwarranted red card for a high foot versus Porto. Ten Hag is still likely to back him in the number ten position.

Rasmus Hojlund likely start up front after scoring on his season debut in midweek.
