Man Utd have ‘private agreement’ on Erik ten Hag sack after Aston Villa draw
Man Utd and Erik ten Hag are said to have reached an agreement about the latter’s future following Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Aston Villa.

According to sources, Manchester United has indicated in private that they are eager to keep Erik ten Hag on board despite the team’s poor start to the season. At the beginning of the October international break, the Dutchman’s future was uncertain following Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa; but, for the time being, the club may continue to believe in him.
At Villa Park, Sir Jim Ratcliffe saw his second game of the season while seated in the directors’ box with Sir Alex Ferguson, Omar Berrada, Dan Ashworth, Jason Wilcox, and Sir Dave Brailsford.
The United leadership is scheduled to meet in Manchester on Monday and London on Tuesday. Joel Glazer, the co-chairman, is anticipated to travel from the United States to take part in the meetings.
With the Red Devils languishing in 14th place in the Premier League after winning only two of their first seven games and scoring five goals, Ten Hag’s future will surely be a topic of discussion.
The team has won three of its eleven games across all competitions, with victories over Southampton and Fulham in the league and the Carabao Cup against Barnsley rounding out the total.
After winning just one of their previous ten games in European competition, United’s recent defeat at Porto on Thursday left them with two points out of a potential six in the Europa League.
The Dutchman continues to maintain that the situation is different within Old Trafford, despite the fact that he is still under to intense external pressure.
And that could be the situation. ESPN reports that United is reluctant to let go of Ten Hag, even after lending him £200 million during the summer transfer window.
As part of his commitment to remain in charge, INEOS also activated the one-year extension in his contract, delaying its expiration date to 2026.
If Ratcliffe decides to fire Ten Hag, he will now have to fork up a larger compensation payment, estimated to be worth almost £15 million.
Not much has changed since either, including the pool of coaches from which United determined in the summer that the 54-year-old was the best fit.
Thomas Frank, Roberto De Zerbi, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, and other people were supposedly interviewed by the M16 giants.
Permanent replacement of Ten Hag would probably go to Tuchel, but the same problems that caused the latest breakdown of negotiations would undoubtedly resurface.
Although Ruud van Nistelrooy would be well-positioned to take over for his countryman in the interim, will that bring about the necessary transformation at United?
If someone other than Ten Hag wasn’t in charge when Brentford comes to Old Trafford on October 19, it would be shocking.
