Breaking News: Man Utd ‘line up Thomas Tuchel’ to replace Erik ten Hag despite failed summer talks

After another sluggish start to the Premier League season, Erik ten Hag is under pressure at Manchester United, and Thomas Tuchel, a former Chelsea manager, is a candidate to take his job.

It has been reported that Manchester United is planning to replace Erik ten Hag with Thomas Tuchel.

After departing Bayern Munich at the end of the previous season, former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager Tuchel is unemployed. Last season, he led Bayern to the semifinals of the Champions League, but Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga.

During the summer, United’s management reached out to Tuchel in an attempt to replace Ten Hag. But before the new season began, they supported the Dutchman and gave him a contract extension.

But now, it seems like something might be changing. Ten Hag’s career is in jeopardy, as United has only managed eight points from their first seven league games. The club’s board is scheduled to convene over the international break.

The Manchester Evening News claims that Tuchel is a desirable prospect because of his capacity to assume leadership roles quickly. There are additional unidentified applicants who are employed by other companies that United’s executives are reportedly interested in.

After the demonstration of faith in Ten Hag, United would quickly reverse course if they made a bid for the German. In fact, Ten Hag himself provided insight into the club’s discussions with Tuchel when he spoke with Dutch TV in the summer.

“Manchester United have told me that they spoke with Tuchel, but they eventually came to the conclusion that they already have the best manager,” he stated to NOS. It has been less than four months since he said those things at Euro 2024.

On Sunday, Ten Hag guided United to a goalless draw away at Aston Villa. Following a 3-0 loss to Tottenham at home and a 0-0 stalemate against Crystal Palace, it was his team’s third straight league game without a goal.

Ten Hag’s team leads the Premier League in goals scored with five, with Southampton coming in last. In the league, no member of United’s team has scored more than once; yet, in cup tournaments, the team has found it easier to score goals.

Ten Hag provided a more upbeat assessment despite the fact that his squad was in the lowest half of the standings going into the international break. “Our season-long perseverance was evident,” he remarked on Match of the Day. “We pushed for the win even though we were down to 10 points, and we gave up three against Tottenham. However, this is our fourth clean sheet overall.

This indicates that things are going well for us. We’ve also been better at controlling possession and counterattack defense. However, we also need to get better in the last third.”
