Chelsea hit with major suspension setback as two stars to miss Liverpool game following brawl
After a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest this past weekend, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has suffered a serious setback ahead of his trip to Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Enzo Maresca, the manager of Chelsea, is suffering from two headaches following his team’s tense tie with a 10-man Nottingham Forest. After the international break, two of his most important players will not be available for the trip to Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Even though they have only played in seven league games, aggressive Chelsea has already had two players receive five yellow cards. Up until and including matchweek 19, receiving five yellows will result in a one-match penalty. Before the match against Forest, Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella were both walking on thin ice.
They had 78 minutes left and no warnings, so it seemed like they would make a clean getaway. However, with the game in the balance after Forest star James Ward-Prowse had already been sent off for two yellow cards, Cucurella found himself at the center of a full-scale brawl.

The protests were spearheaded by Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, who stormed over to the sidelines to face former Reds player Neco Williams, who had shoved the Spanish full-back into his own manager Maresca. This led to a huge group of players and coaches joining the altercation.
Despite being pushed by Williams, Cucurella was confused to see that referee Chris Kavanagh had given him a yellow card when he stood up. Cucurella’s ban was confirmed by bookings for Colwill and the Welsh full-back.
Fofana was given a yellow card by the referee when he tackled Jota Silva, a substitute who was darting past Chelsea’s defense. Chelsea’s manager is considering a challenging scenario ahead of their trip to Anfield as a result of this tactical foul.
Noni Madueke and Levi Colwill were also forced to leave owing to injury. Given his involvement in the touchline altercation and his apparent raising of his hands to confront Forest defender Murillo, Nicolas Jackson may still be subject to retroactive punishment.
Robert Sanchez, Chelsea’s goalkeeper, saved a few goals in the closing moments to salvage the day. He also discussed the importance for the club to refrain from needless fouls in upcoming games.
“A couple of players are going to miss games because of it, but we need to speak about it in the changing room,” Sanchez said. “We had chances and deserved more, but we couldn’t score the goal to win the game.” Huge players, but the timing wasn’t lucky. They must cease conversing with the officials. We have a few excellent guys on the roster.
Due to their card-happy behavior, Maresca’s club is currently facing a punishment of £25,000 (about $33,000). He stated: “I said many times that it is something we need to improve.” I enjoy how the team is coming together and fighting as a one.”
