Liverpool have revealed that promising teenage defender Jarell Quansah has signed a new contract, but there has been nothing in the way of updates on Mohamed Salah’s position.

Liverpool have signed Jarell Quansah to a new contract, but there is still no indication of progress in negotiations with star Mohamed Salah.

The 32-year-old Egyptian attacker is one of a few significant first-team players who have entered the final year of their current contracts, causing concern among supporters.

Club captain Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are both out of contract this summer, and there is still no word on whether the key three will stay at Anfield beyond the current Premier League season.

However, there is good news for Quansah and Konate, with the former signing a contract on Monday evening following a successful season last year.

Talks with Konate are still in the early stages, but there is an optimism that a similar resolution will be achieved in the coming weeks. Liverpool has shown a desire to reward both players with new contracts, and additional contract negotiations are expected.

Arne Slot, the club’s new head coach, recently informed fans that there was no movement on new contracts for Salah, Alexander-Arnold, or Van Dijk.

The trio has nearly 900 senior appearances for the Reds combined, having played crucial roles during Klopp’s reign. While the club would prefer to keep them, supporters are apprehensive that the trio will be free to negotiate with international teams in January.

Salah has been connected with many Saudi Pro League teams in the last year, while Alexander-Arnold is a long-term Real Madrid target. Van Dijk had also said nothing about his contract situation earlier this summer.

When Slot was asked for an update on Salah’s contract issue ahead to Saturday’s triumph against Crystal Palace, the Dutchman replied, “Contracts?! (laughs) I was hoping your previous question didn’t involve the term ‘contract’ since I was saying ‘Trent is doing like this and he is doing like this…’. It’s the same dull answer as usual.

“I understand if you ask me this once every two weeks, but if you ask me again in two or three days, you’ll get the same answer, and people will think I’m boring them!” So try again after the international break!”
