Breaking News: Erik ten Hag ‘sack decision made’ as Manchester United meeting begins

The troubled Dutchman departs on vacation while club executives talk about his future.

Ahead of the crucial meeting on Tuesday, Erik ten Hag feels he still has the backing of the Manchester United administration.

When United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe meets in London with individuals like as INEOS director of sport Sir Dave Brailsford, CEO Omar Berrada, technical director Jason Wilcox, and sporting director Dan Ashworth, Ten Hag’s role as manager will be discussed.

Joel Glazer is in from the United States, and other attendees include chief operating officer Collette Roche and chief financial officer Roger Bell.

After Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Aston Villa, United’s start to the Premier League season is the worst it has ever been. With eight points from seven games, the Red Devils are currently ranked 14th in the table.

In all competitions, they have now lost five straight games, including the humiliating 3-0 loss to Tottenham at Old Trafford on September 29. Their most recent victory of any kind came against Barnsley of League One in the Carabao Cup.

ESPN reports that Ten Hag is certain he won’t be fired during Tuesday’s executive meeting, but his position is in jeopardy given United’s poor start to the new season. Should the struggling Dutchman be fired, Thomas Tuchel, who became unemployed after leaving Bayern Munich last summer, is supposedly being considered.

This Tuesday’s discussion—which is the most recent of INEOS’s monthly scheduled talks with Manchester United executives; the September meeting was held in Barcelona—will also cover early plans for the January transfer window.

On Monday, several significant gatherings took place at Old Trafford as United intensifies preparations for a stadium makeover. Ratcliffe, Joel Glazer, Sir Alex Ferguson, and Gary Neville were all there.

Ratcliffe last week hinted to the BBC that he won’t decide whether or not Ten Hag gets fired.
