Another Arsenal star is skipping international duty as a precaution

Arsenal and the Ghana Football Association have reached an arrangement that will allow Thomas Partey remain in north London during the international break.

The seasoned midfielder was poised to depart the club in the summer after his play slipped dramatically at the close of last season.

Partey’s intelligence and adaptability, on the other hand, have been invaluable over the previous two months, assisting Arsenal in making a strong start to the new season.

An injury to new signing Mikel Merino placed more burden on Partey, who rose to the occasion and helped the Gunners preserve their undefeated record both domestically and in Europe.

In the absence of Jurrien Timber and Ben White, Partey played as a makeshift right-back against Southampton last weekend, demonstrating his importance to his management.

Given the multiple injuries he has sustained since joining Arsenal from Atletico Madrid four years ago, Partey’s apparent renewed durability has been a welcome boost.

Partey has been an almost constant presence for his club this season, and he also played the entire 90 minutes in both of Ghana’s games last month.

Mikel Arteta discusses Thomas Partey.

Thomas Partey has established himself as a key member for the squad, as seen by his consistent performances. He’s had a great start to the season and is quite fit. He returned from his vacation in perhaps the greatest shape he’d ever been in, which was really beneficial. He now needs to keep doing it. We’ve handled certain minutes with him well, and the team is doing the same, and he’s doing everything he can to stay in top physical shape.

On if he is back to his best now:

It’s about being consistent. Obviously, changing certain behaviors and achieving more consistency takes time. If it doesn’t happen in two or three weeks and you give up, you’ll have wasted the next two or three years of your career. He’s trying everything he can to get into there. I believe his work ethic has improved more than ever before; defensively, he has been quite solid, and he has had moments with the ball. They were most likely his most complete performances since he gave us all we expected from him and demonstrated his ability to deliver.

The Black Stars are slated to play Sudan at home and away in the next two weeks, but Partey has been granted a leave of absence.

Partey will remain at London Colney rather than join his national squad, in part because he has been sick for the past several days.

Kai Havertz will also miss international action due to a minor knee ailment, while skipper Martin Odegaard will continue his recovery as he hopes to return from an ankle injury acquired last month in the coming weeks.

‘In the last week or two, I’ve made really fantastic progress,’ he stated before of last Saturday’s 3-1 victory over the Saints. ‘I’m feeling better by the day and feel like things are going nicely.’When you feel like things are progressing, it motivates you to do more and work more.

Today is our last game before another international break, so I’ll have more time to focus on the recovery. Hopefully, it won’t be much longer—I believe we’ll know more as soon as I walk out on the training grounds and see how my ankle reacts.

‘At the moment, it’s going well and looks better than we expected, but we still have to take each day as it comes.

‘Anyway, it appears that the team doesn’t really need me right now! We’ve been playing really well lately, and we achieved another nice result against PSG on Tuesday.
