Memphis Depay, previously of Manchester United and Barcelona, chose to join Corinthians in the summer, but the Brazilian club has faced financial difficulty and may lose their new signing.

Memphis Depay came to Corinthians in the summer, but his contract may be canceled after just one month.

Despite having a year left on his contract, the Dutchman chose to leave Atletico Madrid early after other European clubs approached him. Instead, Depay elected to move to Brazil, where he has already made four appearances for his new team.

However, his future at Corinthians is uncertain owing to financial concerns. According to Paulo Vinicius Coelho of Mundo Deportivo, the Brazilian team is expected to lose its principal sponsor, Esportes da Sorte, due to the company’s probable illegal conduct.

Esportes da Sorte is said to be paying the majority of Depay’s salary, something they would be unable to do if forced to part ways with the squad. The 30-year-old has a £9 million per year contract with the Brazilian club, making him one of the league’s highest-paid players.Depay has already supplied two assists for his new squad and has been productive at times in his career, but he may soon be looking for a new club again.

The attacker began his career with PSV in his home country and has since played in England, France, and Spain. Depay was highly regarded at PSV, and following a breakout season in which he broke the 20-goal mark, Manchester United came knocking.

Depay’s compatriot, Louis van Gaal, was then in charge of the Red Devils and decided to make the attacker one of his star acquisitions. Depay was unreliable, and in his second season, after scoring seven goals in more than 50 games, he was allowed to depart for Lyon when Van Gaal was fired. In France, Depay regained his scoring form, netting 71 goals in four full seasons with the club. He scored 20 goals twice, including in his final season in Ligue 1 before joining another Dutch boss, Ronald Koeman, at Barcelona.

He played two years at Nou Camp, scoring 13 goals in his first season, before joining Atletico. Diego Simeone’s club signed Depay for a low sum, and he scored nine goals in the final season.
