Jurgen Klopp left at the end of last season and opted to take a break from football, but his next assignment has already been disclosed, and he will return to work with Red Bull in 2025.

Jurgen Klopp has announced that he would mentor other coaches and managers after taking on a new position at Red Bull.

The German was named the group’s new ‘Global Head of Soccer’, marking his first comeback to sport since leaving Liverpool last summer. Pep Lijnders, Klopp’s former Liverpool assistant, is now in command at Red Bull Salzburg.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager will take over Red Bull’s network of teams on January 1st, which includes Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, RB Leipzig, and Red Bull Bragantino. Klopp will not be engaged in day-to-day club operations, but will assist sports directors in “leveraging his extensive network to aid in scouting top talent and contributing to coach training and development.”

Klopp is thrilled about football and is looking forward to his new position. The 57-year-old sees the position as one that requires forward thinking.

After being appointed, he stated: “After nearly 25 years on the sidelines, I couldn’t be more pleased to be part in a project like this. My function may have changed, but my love for football and the people who make it what it is has not.

“By joining Red Bull on a global scale, I hope to develop, improve, and support the incredible football talent that we have at our disposal.” There are several ways that we may accomplish this goal by using Red Bull’s exceptional expertise and experience to learn from other sports and businesses.

“Together, we can explore what is possible. I consider my work as primarily mentoring the coaches and administration of Red Bull teams, but I am also a member of an organization that is distinctive, inventive, and forward-thinking. As I have stated, this could not be more exciting for me.

Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO Corporate Projects and Investments, expressed confidence in Klopp’s ability to improve the Red Bull setup.

“We are very proud of this outstanding and certainly the strongest signing in Red Bull’s soccer history,” stated the executive vice president. “Jürgen Klopp is one of the best and most important individuals in international soccer, with exceptional talent and charm.

“In his capacity as Head of Soccer, he will be a game changer for our participation in international soccer and its future growth. We are asking for important and decisive impulses in critical areas to improve the clubs’ collective and individual performance.”
