Nicolas Jackson was “extremely fortunate,” according to former Premier League referee Mark Halsey, not to have been sent out during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on Sunday, for what appeared to be a slap on defender Morato.

After Neco Williams shoved Marc Cucurella, there was a brawl between the benches that resulted in the striker, who had played 81 minutes, seemingly swiping at Morato’s face. After reviewing the situation, the VAR determined that the act did not qualify as violent conduct.

Jackson, though, might be subject to a ban and retrospective punishment from the Football Association. Players who are dismissed for violent behavior typically miss three domestic matches of suspension.

Jackson would miss the game against Liverpool as well as the doubleheader against Newcastle United in the Premier League and League Cup following the international break if this were to happen. According to former Premier League referee Halsey, Jackson was lucky to escape being sent off during the altercation.

He said, “You could argue he was very lucky,” in an interview with The Sun. After reviewing the footage, VAR concluded that no aggressive behavior had occurred. Thus, he was really lucky. He might have been dismissed after seeing red.

Chelsea, on the other hand, will pay a fine for receiving six yellow cards in the draw with Forest. Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana, who have received five yellow cards so far this season, will not be traveling to Liverpool.

They lead the Premier League chart for individual yellow cards as they are the first players this season to cross the suspension threshold. With 27 yellow cards given in just seven games, Chelsea presently has the worst discipline record in the league.

Enzo Maresca, the head coach, has refuted claims that a lack of discipline runs in his family. “I like the way the team is fighting; it’s something we need to work on,” he remarked.

“I enjoy how they are working together on these kinds of things as a team. That doesn’t seem problematic to me. Without a doubt, there are things within our power that we can improve upon, and this is most likely one of them.

“But if you ask me about the team spirit, the way they are fighting together, the way they are doing things together, I’m very happy.”
