Prior to the summer, Arsenal already contacted a target striker who is 6 feet 5 inches tall.
After reaching out to the player in anticipation of a potential transfer, Arsenal is closely monitoring one of their summer transfer targets.

Despite losing out on Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko earlier this year, Arsenal is apparently still interested in the player. Sesko was a target during the summer transfer window. The Gunners had lost a number of important players and were aggressively looking for attacking reinforcements.

Emile Smith Rowe transferred to Fulham, Eddie Nketiah was sold to Crystal Palace, and Reiss Nelson signed a season-long loan with Fulham. Arsenal signed Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea at the last minute because the team’s front line appeared sparse.

Arsenal’s lack of a natural striker had been questioned, but Kai Havertz has done a fantastic job filling the position. The German forward has been playing well lately, making 10 appearances this season and scoring six goals while getting better every time out.

During the summer, 6’5″ Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko was frequently linked to Arsenal. The 21-year-old did, however, choose to stay at RB Leipzig and sign a new deal, and it appears that this choice was wise. With six goals in nine games this season, Sesko has established himself as a vital member of Leipzig’s squad and is widely regarded as one of the continent’s rising talents.

The Gunners are apparently sending scouts to witness Sesko in action during RB Leipzig’s recent match against Juventus in the UEFA Champions League as part of their ongoing monitoring of his development. Sesko scored twice in the match, and Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus—another previous target of Arsenal—also scored twice. After extra time, Francisco Conceicao’s goal gave Juventus a 3-2 triumph.

Arsenal’s interest in Sesko is still high, even though their chase of Vlahovic seems to have halted. Journalist Charles Watts claims in his Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside that Arsenal is keeping a close eye on Sesko this season and may decide to rekindle their interest in the striker later.

According to Watts, “the 21-year-old decided to stay and sign a new contract with Leipzig, but obviously they were very keen to bring him in during the last transfer window.” Although Arsenal was disappointed by the choice, I don’t think it destroyed any hope of a future transfer between the team and the striker.

“There was a lot of work done before the summer window, and I don’t think Sesko’s decision to stay put has resulted in any kind of relationship breakdown behind the scenes.”

Arsenal may try to rekindle their interest in Sesko in upcoming transfer windows as they search for long-term attacking options, given that the young forward is still making an impression in the Bundesliga and Champions League.
