Breaking News: John Stones takes aim at England team-mates after Greece defeat: ‘I’m not happy’

At Wembley, England suffered their first-ever defeat to Greece, and John Stones, a defender for Manchester City, expressed disappointment with the way the game went. The match was part of the Nations League.
John Stones said he was not thrilled with his teammates and acknowledged that England was not at their best against Greece.
The Manchester City player, who led the Three Lions in Harry Kane’s absence, appeared dejected following England’s 2-1 loss. Vangelis Pavlidis opened the score in the second half thanks to some shoddy defending, and Jude Bellingham appeared to have sealed a draw with a late equalizer.
Once more, Pavlidis slipped past Jordan Pickford to secure Greece’s first victory over England and England’s first Wembley loss in four years. With Gareth Southgate’s departure in the summer, Lee Carsley was forced to consider his team selection and his next move as interim manager.
Stones was not at all satisfied with his team’s performance in the Nations League match. In League B Group 2, England is now three points behind Greece halfway through.
“Totally destroyed. It’s difficult to describe,” Stones said to ITV. “We didn’t come across as we usually do when we prepare.
“We must give them credit; they put us under a lot of strain right away. Playing through the lines and emerging from the back proved to be difficult for us. Not to mention disappointing from us.
“As Lee [Carsley] said to us, we’ve got to deliver, to put the onus on ourselves and go and do the business and we didn’t,” he stated.

“We didn’t generate enough opportunities or obtain enough second balls. We were dispersed widely throughout the set pieces, and I personally wasn’t happy with several of the counterattacks. For me and many of the boys, there is a lot on the line. We had a chance to win the group. We need to examine it and proceed.”
Carsley thinks that playing with a false 9 is still an option going forward, despite the fact that England struggled without a recognized striker on the field to begin the match. Despite this, the former Everton player was not pleased with his team’s display.
“It is sad because we were not the best for a large portion of tonight. You will experience setbacks, so it’s critical that we bounce back,” he remarked after the match. “We attempted to overwhelm the middle as a novel approach. Yesterday, we gave it a 20-minute try and were disappointed when it didn’t work. Excessive expectations are unreal, and we will need to make another attempt. It’s frustrating that all of the goals came from errors.
“It will undoubtedly be an option in the future. But when you have someone as good as Kane, that rules things out when he’s free. However, going forward, you will need to possess the bravery and ability to take risks. We made an other attempt. It has no effect on anything. To complete the three camps is my mandate.”
England’s next opponent is Finland, who lost to the Republic of Ireland on Thursday and have not yet won in this competition.
