Man Utd icon Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘in talks with big club’ after snubbing latest job offer
Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appears to be closing close on a return to football management nearly three years after leaving Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thought to be in negotiations about a new post, only weeks after saying he’d like another chance at managing Manchester United.
The Norwegian, 51, left the Red Devils in November 2021. Despite being linked to a number of roles in recent years, Solskjaer has yet to return to management.
Despite keeping a quiet profile, Solskjaer has stated on several times that he is not finished with managing, and it appears that the former Old Trafford favourite is on the verge of returning.
It is said that Solskjaer was recently contacted by Denmark about becoming their new head coach. Solskjaer, on the other hand, turned down that possibility and is now negotiating for a totally different job.According to Danish publication Tipsbladet, the former United manager is in negotiations with a ‘major club’ about a possible return to the dugout, which impacted his decision to reject an interview with Denmark’s director of football, Peter Moller.
During his final full season in charge of United, Solskjaer led them to second place in the Premier League table. He was fired in the early months of the 2021/22 campaign, however, after a poor run of results.
Erik ten Hag was named as the club’s next permanent manager the following summer, although he, too, is now under threat. The Dutchman narrowly missed being fired in the summer and is once again in jeopardy, with United’s senior brass contemplating his fate earlier this week.During a Q&A session at the Oslo Business Forum last month, Solskjaer acknowledged that he would be unable to pass up the opportunity to lead his beloved Manchester United again.
He stated, “If the [United] family asks, I will say yes every day of the week.” It feels inappropriate to discuss other people’s current jobs, but I would answer yes, of sure.”
He also intimated that he was open to a foreign post in the future, specifically the Norway one. Solskjaer stated, “I am a proud Norwegian, and if the question arises, when Ståle decides to give up, I will gladly engage in discussions.”
“I am a proud Norwegian and proud of where I come from.”
