Bad News: Ruben Amorim suffers setback ahead of Man United move

Before taking over, Amorim will need to wait a little while longer.
After a setback, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim could not be able to lead his team for training at Carrington, even if he formally takes over as manager of the Red Devils today.

The Portuguese manager has not yet received his work permit, even though he has planned to fly to Manchester overnight after his final game as Sporting Lisbon’s manager yesterday, which they won 4-2.

As a result, the 39-year-old will not be able to lead Manchester United on November 11 as scheduled.

After 11 games this season, he left Sporting with a perfect league record; now, he will focus on moving United out of the bottom half of the standings.

After a terrible start to the season under Erik ten Hag, the Reds are currently in 13th place.

But under temporary manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who went undefeated in his four games in charge, including yesterday’s 3-0 triumph over Leicester, the Reds performed better.

Determining if the Dutchman has a future with the team he played for will be one of Amorim’s first responsibilities. Amorim is travelling to Manchester with his backroom crew.

Van Nistelrooy and his players have shown affection and respect for one another during his tenure as manager, and several of them have expressed their emotions about his future.

“I can only speak of my experience and I think he was really valuable as an assistant,” Matthijs de Ligt remarked after their match against Leicester yesterday.

He is familiar with the team as a manager. He is well aware of the requests made by the audience and specific players. So, yes, in my view, but ultimately, the manager makes the decision.

The international break will significantly hinder Amorim’s start at Manchester United because a large portion of his team will be out when he gets there.

But he has less than two weeks to get ready for his first game as manager, which is on November 24 against Ipswich.

He won’t have to deal with the media until his pre-game news conference, which will provide him with minimal time to think about the task at hand.
