Breaking News: Manchester United offer player and cash SWAP in order to secure Victor Gyokeres deal
Ruben Amorim has arrived at Old Trafford, Manchester United, and his presence may be the spark that ignites the rumoured transfer.
It has been reported that Manchester United is contemplating a player-plus-cash exchange to get Victor Gyokeres.
In their ongoing efforts to persuade Gyokeres, who is now ranked seventh on FourFourTwo’s list of the top strikers in the world, to move from Portugal to England in the summer, the Red Devils welcomed new head coach Ruben Amorim to the team earlier this week.
Given the Sweden international’s goal-scoring prowess this summer, it is believed that any trade would require a substantial sum of money, with Manchester United already providing the ideal leverage.
To achieve a trade, Manchester United will provide Joshua Zirkzee in exchange for Victor Gyokeres.
To help sweeten the deal for Gyokeres in 2025, the Red Devils are prepared to offer Joshua Zirkzee in addition to an additional monetary amount, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, as reported by Caught Offside.
Gyokeres’ contract with Sporting is set to expire in 2028, and Coventry City, a Championship team, will get a 10% sell-on fee from any proceeds beyond the transfer price.
The article also mentions Arsenal as an interested party. It is well known that Mikel Arteta wants to add a new striker to the Emirates to help compete with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.
Considering that La Liga powerhouse Barcelona also eliminated themselves from the sweepstakes this week due to remarks made by their sporting director Deco, Manchester United still seems to be the most likely destination for Gyokeres.
Sporting president Frederico Varandas has also denied suggestions that the gifted 26-year-old will depart in January, saying he has no choice if the right amount is paid.
“I have nothing to guarantee. If a club shows up and pays the release clause, he will leave. However, he went on, “I don’t think this will happen in January.”
Gyokeres is most likely to depart Portugal in the summer, according to FourFourTwo, although it’s still unclear exactly where he will go. Given Amorim’s arrival, Manchester United appears to be in the lead in the pursuit, which could further advantage them in the transfer.
Next weekend, Manchester United will return to Premier League action when they visit Portman Road to play Ipswich Town.
