In his initial interview since succeeding Erik ten Hag as Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim has issued a warning to five players.

Next Sunday, November 24, Amorim will lead the Red Devils to Ipswich Town for his inaugural encounter as manager. He spoke with MUTV prior to the match.

Amorim discussed his footballing philosophy, his primary objectives, and the reason why Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese football legend for Manchester United, has dubbed the former Sporting Lisbon manager “the poet” during a comprehensive conversation.

At one juncture, the interviewer queried Amorim explicitly about five United stars – Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Amad Diallo, Rasmus Hojlund, and Leny Yoro – and noted the “excitement” within the club regarding their collective potential.

Amorim responded by dismissing the notion that United is a long-term endeavour and cautioning the five youthful players that their age cannot be used as an alibi for subpar performances.

“I am hesitant to assert that we require time, as we are a young team,” Amorim stated. ‘They are adequately prepared. They are primed to meet the requirements of competing for Manchester United. They ought to be, as they are present.

“We are aware that it will require time, and we will endeavour to gain time through the use of games.” Yet, we must commence from the very beginning, without hesitation, without considering that they are not accustomed to this type of activity. I am not contemplating this matter. Regardless of the circumstances, they will commence with our concept on the first day. That is the objective.

When asked about his footballing philosophy and primary objectives, Amorim responded, “In a single word: team.” The team is of paramount importance to me. And when you collaborate as a team, the individual talent will be highlighted.

However, if I am required to elucidate the significance of each element, it is the character, the manner in which we combat, the manner in which we perform, and the necessity of establishing an identity. Our athletes will be aware that the uniform belongs to the Manchester United team if they accept it.

“Everyone is in agreement, and they return to play and enjoy.” This is the source of my motivation. I am capable of expressing the widely accepted sentiment, which is triumph. I am constantly focused on the identity and one notion that I am committed to, regardless of whether it is with my athletes or the fans. Everyone desires to win, and I am no exception.

‘We are aware that we require leisure; however, we must acquire it. Winning time is equivalent to winning sports. However, identity is of paramount importance to me. Therefore, we will commence with our identity from the very beginning. Certainly, we will prepare the games; however, our primary focus will be on the game model.

‘These minor details, how to perform, and how to press. It is impossible to provide a comprehensive account of every aspect, as this would be perplexing for the participants. Therefore, my primary objective, my initial objective, is to establish my identity.

When asked to clarify the reason for Ronaldo’s affection for him as “the poet,” Amorim responded, “It’s a humorous situation because I believe that I speak from the heart.” I believe that the individuals perceive it as a mere pastime.
