A decision was made by the board of directors last night, and it is now official that Manchester United has finally reached an agreement on personal terms with a player who will cost them £80 million. You have arrived at Old Trafford.

According to rumours, the new manager of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, is on board with the Premier League club’s ambition to re-sign Angel Gomes during the summer.

At the beginning of this month, the Red Devils decided to replace Erik ten Hag, who had only been able to lead Manchester United to three victories in their first nine Premier League matches, with Amorim in an effort to improve their performance on the pitch where they play.

In light of the fact that the Red Devils are now ranked thirteenth in the Premier League table, Amorim is facing a challenging situation. This is due to the fact that interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has given the team an additional four points in his two matches as manager.

The first game that the Portuguese coach will be in charge of will take place on Sunday at Portman Road against Ipswich Town, who have recently been promoted. Kieran McKenna’s team won their most recent encounter, which was a 2-1 victory against Tottenham.

It has been stated that Amorim aims to utilise the 3-4-3 configuration, which was successful for him while he was playing for Sporting Lisbon. However, it may take some time for the new manager of Manchester United to put his ideas into action on the training ground because there is a busy holiday schedule on the horizon.

Man United may make an effort to acquire new players during the transfer window of January, when they have the financial means to do so; nevertheless, it is quite like that Amorim will be required to wait until the summer for any significant acquisitions to take place.

In addition, The Sun has reported that Amorim is’supporting’ Manchester United in their pursuit of re-signing Angel Gomes, a midfielder for Lille, on a free transfer prior to the summer of 2019.

The former Old Trafford academy product Gomes, who is also a transfer target for Tottenham, “remains a major target” under the new manager of Manchester United, and “transfer gurus Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox believe the four-cap England star can be a crucial part of new manager Amorim’s masterplan for success.” Gomes and Tottenham are both interested in acquiring his services.

“The Portuguese coach is right behind the possible move because he has been a long-time admirer of the 24-year-old midfielder,” the story goes on to say.

In an interview that took place a month ago, Gomes made a veiled reference to the possibility of his return to Manchester United, saying, “There’ll always be that sentimental soft spot, so of course it’d be difficult to say no.”
