Breaking News: Chelsea switch focus to former Man City striker after souring on deal for 35-goal Prem man

According to reports, Chelsea has shifted their striker focus to Liam Delap of Ipswich, who is doing well, because they don’t think they can convince Alexander Isak to go.

In recent seasons, a number of strikers have tried and failed with the Blues. As a result, they are constantly looking to increase their firepower at the top.

This is true even though Nicolas Jackson has scored six goals in the Premier League so far this season.

Recently, there have been connections to Isak and Victor Osimhen, among others. Although a deal for him hasn’t been completely ruled out, the I claims that Chelsea is prepared to consider younger alternatives to the former.

Additionally, it is believed that they have little chance of signing Isak because they believe the Newcastle player is content and happy at St. James’ Park.

They are reportedly now concentrating on Delap, a forward for Ipswich who is 21 years old and scores “exceptionally highly” according to their advanced transfer analytics.

Although they might not match Chelsea’s offer, the Citizens could profit from the Blues buying the forward because he is a Manchester City academy product and they have buy-back and sell-on clauses for him.

Don’t miss these five Todd Boehly transactions, which are the most costly Chelsea signings ever.

Delap can go to extreme lengths.
Given Jackson’s presence, journalist Kweku Afari has stated that Delap is an unnecessary addition to Chelsea; yet, if he joins the proper team, the Ipswich player can achieve great success.

Jackson took ownership of the No. 9 shirt. Nicolas Jackson is our obvious striker at the moment,” he stated on talkSPORT.

“Liam Delap can score a lot of goals for a team that gives him opportunities. He has scored a variety of goals for an Ipswich team that has struggled, and I enjoy the range of his finishing.

Is he a better option than Nicolas Jackson? At this point in his career, I’m not sure, but I don’t think so.

“I believe Liam Delap is a guy who can score a lot of goals if he does get to the next level.

“I don’t think Ollie Watkins is the best striker to replace Harry Kane in England discussions because he is too similar in age to him; if he makes the right move, I think Liam Delap will be the winner.”

Chelsea round-up: Liverpool raid is predicted for the Blues
Chelsea has been predicted to pursue Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher, who has been rumored to be on the move soon to realize his potential as a No. 1 goalkeeper.

Tottenham is reportedly seriously contemplating buying Jadon Sancho if Chelsea does not decide to sign him permanently following his loan stint this season.

The Blues have set a target of £100 million to acquire Enzo Fernandez in response to Real Madrid’s interest in him.

Additionally, some Chelsea supporters are demanding that club captain Reece James retire after suffering yet another injury.

Delap’s current career
After ten years at Derby County, where his father Rory had played, he joined Man City’s academy in 2019 at the age of sixteen.

only three days after making his Premier League debut, he scored just eighteen minutes into his senior debut for City in an EFL Cup victory over Bournemouth in September 2021.

Delap made his Champions League debut for City against Sporting in February 2022 after a string of injuries, replacing Bernardo Silva in a 5-0 victory.

During the 2022–2023 season, he was loaned to Stoke City and subsequently Preston, where he made 38 appearances and scored just four goals.

During the 2023–24 season, he signed a loan deal with Hull City and scored eight goals in 32 games for the Tigers, who placed eighth in the Championship and just outside of the playoffs.

signed a five-year contract at Portman Road after joining newly promoted Ipswich in July 2024 for £20 million from City.

In a 1-1 Premier League draw with Fulham on August 31, he scored his first goal for Town.

scored both goals in a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on September 29, becoming the first Ipswich player to achieve a top-flight double in a game since Darren Bent in 2002.
