CHEATED ARSENAL? The Premier League had to eventually make two VAR statements after the late drama between Fulham and Arsenal, which followed objections by Arsenal supporters last weekend.

Following concerns by Arsenal supporters, the HBAgency Premier League was compelled to issue two VAR statements in response to the late drama in the match between Fulham and Arsenal.

Following Sunday afternoon’s 1-1 draw between Arsenal and Fulham at Craven Cottage, the Premier League released two VAR statements.

Prior to kickoff, Arsenal was aware that a win over Marco Silva’s team would reduce the Liverpool lead to four points after the Reds’ derby against Everton was postponed because of bad weather. However, Mikel Arteta’s team struggled in the first half and lost to an early goal from Raul Jimenez.

The visitors made a strong effort to equalize and scored on minute fifty-two as William Saliba guided the ball in from close range, so whatever Arteta said at the half seemed to work. After reviewing the goal’s on-field award, VAR finally decided to let it stand.

“The VAR checked and confirmed the referee’s call of goal as Saliba was in an onside position,” the Premier League’s Match Centre tweeted to explain the decision. Even though the Gunners won that case, they would later lose to a ruling that went against them.

When Bukayo Saka headed Gabriel Martinelli’s cross into the net, he believed he had won. The goal was disallowed, though, as a VAR review revealed that Martinelli had veered slightly offside during the build-up.

The Premier League clarified in a follow-up statement: “Saka’s goal was initially awarded on-field. After verifying that Martinelli had been offside during the build-up, VAR suggested that the goal be disallowed.

In the end, Arsenal was forced to accept a point, which is not ideal for their chances of winning the Premier League. They now behind Liverpool by six points, but the Reds’ upcoming match might increase that lead to nine points.
