Jharkhand native Harsif Ansari told reporters from the hospital on Monday that he swerved to avoid hitting the automobile, which caused the catastrophic collision, according to PTI.

“The car driver applied sudden brakes, and I lost control of my truck,” he said. “I swung the steering wheel in the direction of the road barrier on the right to avoid colliding with the vehicle. However, I turned left after spotting another vehicle. My truck’s steel-filled container fell as a result.

The report also stated that the driver was shocked to learn of the deaths of six family members, including three children, and was unaware that an SUV had been crushed underneath the overturned truck.

The family was on their way to Vijayapura when the crash happened on Saturday at Talekere on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

In the meantime, the matter is being thoroughly investigated by the Nelamangala police. The investigation is being supervised by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), and local CCTV material is being examined.

“The case is being led by a DySP rank officer. We are also researching the crash’s connection to road safety. We are unable to disclose information at this time that could jeopardize the investigation,” a senior police official stated.

Because authorities are trying to figure out exactly what happened, the case has brought up issues of road safety and accountability. The SUV was crushed in its path when the truck, which was transporting a large amount of steel, toppled after crossing the median.
